So in addition to a Joe, what other 1-2 cooking devices would be the best to round out the outdoor cooking experience?

I currently have a gas grill (in need of gas line repairs) and a freestanding wood fire pizza oven (from Sam’s Club I got for free).

I want at least one quick and easy device for cooking when I don’t have the time to fire up the Joe.

I have been eyeing up griddles (specifically the Camp Chef Gridiron 36) and have no experience or real understanding of pellet grills.

If I add a new device, I probably need to take one away. I could probably replace the pizza oven with a table top one if needed.

I added a photo of the Joe and Pizza oven. My setup needs work but the indoor renovations took priority. I hope to get the yard and cooking setup better (patio and a grill gazebo) this year.

Honestly I got the Joe because it could do it all. Double Soapstone for griddle, pizza, smoking etc.

If I was to add. I would just get a gas or induction double burner that I could put a griddle on or use pans /pots. If I needed more smoking room maybe a stick burner offset.

Id also have something for travel /tailgates. Either a Weber q or Weber kettle etc.

  2. While Joe CAN do to all, it’s inconvenient/slower/limited for some things. I started with the Joe but have since added:

Blackstone 36″ griddle – mainly for smashburgers
    Gozney Arc XL for pizza
Id like a workhorse offset smoker but haven’t been able to afford one

You really can’t go wrong with a Weber Kettle when you want something quick to cook on. Not that they can’t do slower cooks because they really can. Plus, lots of accessories to be had. (Onlyfire make some great cheaper alternatives to Weber brand accessories, great quality too).

Alternatively, how about a Joe Jr?

That being said, I don’t have a griddle myself and have been looking at the Blackstone range for a little while. Definitely a great option, too.

Blackstone 36”. You can get everything done with this combo. We also kept our Weber gas genesis and I have a Weber kettle but neither get any use.

Second the Blackstone griddle for a quick heat up and versatile cooling.

I would hook up the gas line. Then you can get a griddle for that – I use my soapstone on the gas grill quite often.

I love my Kamado Joe 3. However, in addition to that, I have a 36″ Blackstone griddle, a Traeger Timberline 1300, and a Webber 22in Kettle. I feel the Joe is the most versatile of the 4, but each do have their purpose. Depending on what I’m cooking, I’ll choose which one makes the most sense. They’re like my kids… Love them all, but each has their strengths 😊
