Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, the flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and orange zest. Add the butter and rub it in with your fingers until evenly mixed.
  2. In a 13-by-9-by-2-inch baking dish, toss together the apples, dates, pecans and lemon zest. Cover with the oat mixture. Bake until the apples are tender and the top is browned, about 45 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
