Had a pellet fire today. Grill was clean and had been shut down correctly the previous cook. But when I turned it on at 225, in a few minutes it was over 500 and had quite the fire going. Got hot enough to melt some of the paint. Traeger customer service said likely issue was pellet dust or old pellets that had moisture in them.

Maybe this is my sign not to use Traeger brand pellets anymore?

I vacuum mine out after each cook because of pellet dust. I do use the airtight containers though

Just sand it off and repaint it with high heat paint before it rusts and there is no issue.
