Had a rough year, so my buddy Joe was left abandoned in the weather in the garden, wanna get Christmas spirit back and fire it up. Any ideas how to clean sloRoller as it cannot be put through fire? Thats all mold. Thanks and Happy Christmas everyone.

I feel ya🙏. Mine didn’t look as bad & I don’t have a sloroller. It did have lots of mold throughout though. So I started a fire & got it over 700F, it got clean as new in no time. After it was clean I made a great spatchcock turkey for Thanksgiving that the family loved. Haven’t used it since but hopefully I will tomorrow. I hope next year is A lot better for you & Happy Holidays!!! Get that fire going!

I had a home remodel and was unable to use mine for 9 months or so. Do one long burn! Bring it to 700 degrees, keep it there for an hour, then close the vents til it would be what you’d smoke at. Then let it just naturally burn out. It’s a leaf blower to blow out all the ashes 24 hours later

SLO roller will need to be cleaned separately (and I’m not sure how best to do that). I’d do a clean burn on the rest.

This doesn’t help now but might help in the future

I picked up a 20” aluminum pan off amazon to place above the slow roller on my big joe to catch all the drippings to keep the slow roller clean. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been keeping humidity absorbing packs in mine when not in use. May be worth a shot.

My sloroller paint started peeling without ever getting over max temp. Now I don’t care. I say rip the bandaid off and just burn the whole thing.

  8. pro-tip: you can leave the vents slightly open and it will help alleviate the mold growth. I leave my kontrol tower and bottom vents ever so slightly cracked and haven’t had mold in mine in months

700 deg for an hour then you’re good.

Leaving vents wide open when not in use might help prevent this growth
