CINCINNATI (WXIX) – The Garden of Joy Culinary Academy teaches young people how to cook to help keep them employed and off the streets.

Located on Central Parkway near Cincinnati State, the Garden of Joy Culinary Academy wants to fill the space with youth between the ages of 16 and 24 who are passionate about cooking.

“Garden of Joy is all about giving kids as many opportunities as possible to be involved in something,” Co-Director Ali Rizvi said to FOX19 NOW on Tuesday. “We have a hands-on garden-to-table cooking program that teaches our kids essential life skills and gives them a place to be involved and in community with each other.”

Garden of Joy will provide free, top-notch culinary education in a state-of-the-art kitchen using the freshest ingredients.

The academy has already raised $50,000 through small-dollar donations, which will keep young people off the streets and out of trouble, armed with a new sense of purpose.

Students will learn skills at Garden of Joy that will open many doors to meaningful employment.

“Together we can do it,” Garden of Joy‘s founder, Rev. Todd O’Neal, said. “We have to do it together. They need us, we need them. So, we are partnering with other organizations to help us with this endeavor.”
