Food has a unique way of connecting people, and a recent video of a woman eating a curry made by her late husband has left the internet emotional. The dish, a Japanese curry, was the last meal her husband, Tony, had cooked for her. She had frozen some to preserve the memory, and now, two years later, as she prepared to move out of their home, she decided to finally eat it.
In the touching video, she recalls how Tony was the main cook in their family and always made her favourite meals. She expresses gratitude for this final meal, noting that although the vegetables had turned mushy, the curry still tasted amazing.
Sharing the moment on Instagram, she said, “The day Tony passed away, I wanted Japanese curry, so I asked him to make it, and he did. I froze some of it to preserve it forever, but since I’m moving out of state, I need to eat this. Tony was the primary cook in our family—anytime I craved something, he would make it. That was one of the many ways he showed love. Thank you, Tony, for my last meal in this home, and my apologies that I don’t have any rice.”
As she takes the first bite, she is surprised that the curry, made with carrots, onions, potatoes, beef, and mushrooms, still tastes delicious. Despite being frozen for two years, she says the beef is still “tender.”
In the caption, she wrote, “I’ll forever miss his cooking.” The heartfelt video has resonated deeply with viewers, highlighting how food can carry cherished memories and emotions long after a loved one is gone.
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “You have preserved his curry forever by making this video dear.”
Another shared, “I would have cried when taking that first bite.”
“Even in death, he feeds you once more. His love transcends his death,” a comment read.
An individual shared, “My dad passed when I was 15, he was very poor but made sure to leave me all his money. $8 in quarters. I have used one of his quarters every time I made a big purchase in the last 15 years. New Cars, new apartments, anything that is special that I want him here for. I have one left for when I buy a house.”
Another mentioned, “It took me a year to eat the fish my dad caught. It was in my deep freezer. It was the last fish I’ll ever have from my father. God bless you. I was sad eating the fish.”
One more added, “It’s a sign that he wanted your last meal at your home where you shared happy memories to be a good one. It’s one last happy memory he could give you, to shield you from the sadness of leaving. These are not coincidences.”
Since the video was shared on Instagram, it has garnered over fifty-four lakh views.
