It is not good. They don’t make anything fresh. It all gets shipped from New York.

I think it’s inventive and delicious and Christina Tosi is wonderful. So I guess I’ll be the only one going

Every new restaurant these days feels so sterile. The aesthetic tells me absolutely nothing about the business except I guess they serve hot dogs and cupcakes? Is this an actual bar that serves drinks and has an atmosphere, or just another corporate franchise we’ll forget in a year? Sorry for the old man rant.

When the lines die down I’d grab a soft serve from them if they have the cereal milk soft serve.

This town needs more soft serve.

There’s a couple dozen bakeries in this city id hit before going there though. Hell, there are three other chain bakeries I’d go to on that same street before I’d go there (Voodoo, La Colombe, Levain). We’re spoiled and you can do better, Chicago.

No hate towards Milk Bar, but damn…West Loop has become so uninspiring. It’s like a private equity wet dream. What’s next? Another Sweetgreen?

The bakery is bad but the soft serve with corn flakes is so good

So overrated and everything is so insanely sweet.

i guess the midwest really is 10 years behind the coasts

West loop is just becoming a bunch of nyc imports

“The Korova milkbar sold milk-plus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking.”

  11. alexjewellalex

Explains why they sued JoJo’s over having Milk Bar in their name. They’ve been planning this for many years

  12. Giddings53

said “there’s gonna be a milk bar in the west loop” to my wife and she said “of course there is”

milk bar was excellent 15 years ago, but it’s incredibly bad now. eat anywhere else, or buy the excellent cookbook and make it yourself. you can think of milk bar’s current iteration as expensive, pretentious dairy queen.

edit: if you want a chess pie go to all together now

  14. Distinct-Hold-5836

I liked it better when it was called CRACK PIE

  15. gweeton

Looks like a fine spot to hangout with my droogs

  16. WestLoopHobo

For fuck’s sake, this is 100% reaffirming my decision to finally abandon the west loop. It’s like a copy/paste playground for vapid, image-obsessed people whose entire personality is posting an IG pic at one of the same three photo staging areas all these identical shops have.

So when are we opening a l’industrie and 7th street burger? Or a russ and daughters?

  18. longshotz777

Hopefully it’s good. Cuz when I ordered some online it it tasted slightly above Crumble cookie. I was a bit disappointed.

  19. Redditfortheloss

Overrated and overpriced. Avoid at all costs imo.

  20. Michstel_22

Their cakes are not great. Tried twice. Overly sweet and dry.

  21. txQuartz

Being endlessly out of the loop, I had hopes this was a Polish bar mleczny -esque concept until I looked it up. Ah well.

  22. Satanic-mechanic_666

Do they have milk with knives in it?

  23. Ellietoomuch

Obligate hater remark, if you don’t like the taste of cereal milk AVOID THIS, I tried it years back in DC and pretty much tossed it after a few minutes, waste of $8 or whatever it was.

  24. justalittlemiss

I would have been excited in 2012.. also I’ve never once thought to myself, man chicago needs a milk bar

  25. seekinganswers1010

As an out of towner that visits Chicago semi-regularly, y’all have much better bakeries than Milk Bar.

  26. rtidwell11

Their cookies are drier than the Sahara

  27. rtidwell11

We keep getting New York’s overhyped chains. Boucherie, Prince St (don’t @ me) and now Milk Bar

  28. Jombes_Industries

    Wildly, insanely overrated.

Entirely decent cookies and sweets, but nothing remotely extraordinary by any means.

  29. Not to be confused with Milk Room, an exquisite cocktail bar on Michigan ave

  30. Abm0506

This place is so overrated. Had it in LA; nothing special

  31. Go_Frag_Yurslf

They don’t even bake shit in those places. Everything comes out of the freezer or a fridge. Went to one in NYC this fall.
