Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spread oats in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet or jellyroll pan. Toast oats for 15 minutes, turning pan halfway through.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine toasted oats, cider and milk. Simmer until oats are tender but not mushy, 25 to 30 minutes. Stir in salt. Serve with butter and cream if desired.
