One of the lesser known Chicago sandwiches, The Freddy, can be found in Italian delis and pizza joints around the south side and south suburbs. An Italian Sausage patty with melted cheese and sweet peppers bathed in red sauce (the same red gravy used on breaded steak sandwiches) on a French roll (same bread used with Italian Beef sandwiches). Most places call it a Freddy but some places have their own name for it. Just like when I eat a breaded steak sandwich at Ricobene’s or other restaurants, multiple napkins were needed. $9. Who makes your favorite Freddy?

Calabria’s chips when warm and fresh are the things dreams are made of.

Calabria Imports is legit, great place to get lunch and not a bad spot for a pizza kit.

Also don’t skip their lemon cookies!
