Made this cake for my mom's coworker.
All her husband wanted for his Birthday this year was a "real" cake (all their kids have severe food allergies). I said sure! I love birthday cakes! A classic birthday cake no problem! But no, the catch was he wanted a steak cake………
Did my mom say I would make this without asking me first? Yes. Was it touch and go? Yes. Am I overall 87% satisfied with it? Yes.
I'm not too happy with how the bone came out, but for my first illusion cake (and hopefully my last one) it came out pretty well! My mom insisted on "pooled blood" near the bone, I would have done without it personally.
The cake itself is red velvet with a chocolate cream cheese frosting topped with fondant, food color gel, and crushed sugar sprinkles to simulate salt and pepper.
Cake will be delivered tomorrow! Hoping they enjoy the looks of it, but most importantly the taste of it!
