I’ve been going to Cellar Door Provisions for a few years now, but stopped going as often after they remodeled and re-concepted. I went the other night for the first time in a few years and I had such a lovely experience.

Jamon iberico was delicious and paired quite well with the marcona almonds. The country bread was as incredible as I remember it. Seriously some of the best sourdough I’ve ever had in my life. The salad was simply prepared, but light and refreshing. My favorite dish of the night was this lamb heart toast. Grilled to perfection, similar to a duck breast but also kind of like cow tongue, with a slight livery, iron flavor. Gnocchi in smoked mussel cream was delightful, light and fluffy. The grilled Spanish mackerel was tender and smoky, paired well with the burnt leeks. Although I wish it had a bit more acidity. Ended the dinner with these caneles made with wolf point whisky, served slightly warm, these caneles were custardy, fluffy, but still so light and crisp.

I’ve known a few friends who’ve come to cellar door provisions and didn’t like it due to the food being “weird”, but I had such a great time. What’s your opinion on cellar door provisions?
