That’s a reasonably new one too judging by the wheels and handles.

The original owner probably tossed it because they can be a little difficult to use. But as an OKJoe Highland owner and proud Cheap Offset club member too, a few pointers:

-Seal gaps along the mid section of the firebox with some high heat RTV sealant or better.

-Look into hood clamps and gasket tape for the cooking chamber. Available on OKJoe’s site and probably Amazon.

-Look into some youtube videos and forums that will outline modifying the stack. It’s dead simple- all you need to do is extend the intake to grate level and raise the height. it’s a 20 minute Home Depot stop.

As for use I find it best to run it with a full load of lump along with small splits to optimize this guy. Using wood alone is going to introduce wild temp swings, and it’ll drive you nuts. I don’t bother with the damper on the firebox door either, I leave it open. That 3″ stack won’t introduce enough draught otherwise.

So jealous….want to try a stick burner but don’t want to shell out so much money until I know if I will like it
