Have you tried a Chimney starter?
Super easy to use and doesn’t require an outlet

I grilled at someone’s house who had one of these! I’m a chimney guy myself. My top purchases are my performer and the basic ass grilling tool set I’ve had for 20+ years.

The electric starter is a game changer! I’ll never go without one since getting ours 5 years ago

Chimney rocks. I cut up all the amazon boxes to get the mesquite going. A win win

I’m with you on the electric starter. I love my electric torch. I’m over my chimney unless I need everything lit at once. But now that I’m smoking or reverse sear, I don’t want that much heat. And if I’m only lighting a few coals, to start a snake or one side of the slow n sear, I can stand there and it takes two minutes too top to light

I feel like this tool is pretty outdated

I used one all the time when I grilled in Okinawa, even with my Weber Performer with propane lighting system if the wind was too strong-complete north exposure to winter winds-and blew out the flame.
