At the very edge of New York City you’ll find Liebman’s Deli, the last Jewish deli in the Bronx. Open since 1953, Liebman’s has been serving classic Jewish American staples like matzo ball soup, chopped liver, knishes and, most notably, a classic pastrami sandwich that’s become famous across the five boroughs.

Follow along as we meet Yuval Dekel, who took over the deli in 2002 at the age of 26 after the death of his father. Yuval has worked to preserve the techniques and recipes that have kept Liebman’s Deli an institution for Jewish American food in New York. The pastrami sandwich, Yuval’s best-seller at Liebman’s, is all about two fundamentals: simplicity and tradition.

    Now that’s a pastrami sandwich, I’d gladly pay for that, looks like a pound of meat, I make pastrami (not as good as that I’d bet), so I know the work that goes into it.

    Ahhh yes… Riverdale and Throggs Neck… those places that are pretty inaccessible to the majority of Bronx residents but the places food influencers love to highlight as Bronx staples lol… but also salute to all of these spots and all parts of the BX ❤. I gotta get up over there to check this out

    sandwich looks delicious and I'm heartened to see these old places thriving. For some reason though, I found this segment incredibly boring and predictable. You don't mess with authentic, traditional deli recipes, but telling their story should have some freshness

    I know it may sound odd. Having lived in NYC for years. Aside from there. Mannys in Chicago is good. The wildcard is Jake’s Deli in Milwaukee. If ever there. Take a moment. It’s incredible.

    This place is so good! It’s my go-to comfort food spot. Love to see them highlighting places in the Bronx!
