First time ever decorating a cake and it was for a test run for my daughter’s How to Train Your Dragon party next weekend. Didn’t want to waste black food color, so I used plain white for my first go at Toothless.

Used pre-made frosting which I really fought against the whole time, but my wife (the baker of the two of us) will be making a better buttercream for piping. Fondant for the eyes. Rice Krispies Treat sculpting for the head fins.

What do you think?

  1. I think you nailed it! When the final version is black, it will be immediately recognizable as Toothless.

I think it’s wonderful. Long, long, long ago, I made a her year old (now 17) my first fondant cake ever. It was SpongeBob and it was horrific. And all she saw was that I made her a SpongeBob cake and the kid legitimately still remembers it to this day. Your Toothless is miles above my SpongeBob. Your kid is going to love it.

Nailed it! My daughter 18, would’ve loved this! She’s the biggest fan of HTYD! She has the set of books and has seen al the movies and shows made about it.

Haha as soon as I saw it my mind went “Toothless!!” then questioning why toothless is white, then reading the description which makes perfect sense. For me it was the eyes that made it obvious, this is really well done.
