Ingredients:
For the dough:
150ml milk
7g dry yeast (1 packet)
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 egg
3 cups all-purpose flour (puolikarkea vehnäjauho)
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbs. cardamom ( kardemmuma)
Filling:
Butter,softened
1 tbs cinnamon
2 tbs Sugar
Instructions:
Warm the Milk: Heat the milk to 37°C (lukewarm).
2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine sugar, salt, cardamom, and yeast with 3 cups of all-purpose flour (puolikarkea). Mix well.
3. Incorporate Wet Ingredients: Add the melted butter (or oil) and egg, knead until the dough becomes soft and elastic.
4. Knead & Rise: Knead the dough thoroughly, then cover it with a cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes.
5. Roll & Fill: Roll the dough into a large rectangle and evenly spread softened butter over the surface. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
6. Shape the Buns: Roll the dough into a tight log and slice it into 8–10 pieces.
7. Second Rise: Place the slices on a greased baking sheet, cover them, and let them rise for another 10 minutes.
8. Egg Wash & Topping: Brush the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle crispy sugar on top.
9. Bake: Preheat the oven to 225°C and bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
10. Cool & Serve: Let the buns cool slightly before enjoying.
