Saw this Matiz anchovies at my local supermarket, not technically canned as it was in the COLD section which was interesting. It’s ~$10 so not too bad, but curious if anyone has tried this before?

I’m not at all familiar; so you eat these like sardines/Herring/mackerel? I’ve only had the super salty pizza topping kind of anchovies.
Oh hell yes. Squeeze of lemon, crusty bread, maybe some fancy butter… put it directly into my face.

white anchovies in vinegar are great! with rice they make for a lazy Filipino milkfish dupe
Matiz is great. I would love to give those a try.
You can make great Gildas with those.

I’ve only tried the Ortiz brand of boquerones, and wow what a treat! I think they taste best without excess brine so I do a little rinse and pat dry with paper towels (more fresh/less pickly tasting). Great on a Niçoise salad 👍
