I had a co worker order “little fishes” as a meal in Greece. This came out. He was extremely disappointed. He thought there would be sides or anything other than a plate of deep fried minnows.
I shared my pork souvlaki meal with him and he shared with me. They were really good. Would have been better as an appetizer.

Smelt will be running before too long in a lot of places in the US. A plate of fried smelt with some salt and lemon is also pretty awesome.
