A fellow tinned fish enthusiast picked this tin up for me as a gift. Never had tinned yellowtail before and was told it’s similar to (and often confused with) tuna. I did find the taste and texture very similar to canned tuna!
The tin contained two big pieces of fish, with skin on and no bones that I noticed. The fish itself was very firm and a little on the dry side, which is a texture I personally enjoy. The teriyaki sauce was sweet and savoury but I left most of it in the tin because it smelled and tasted very fishy.
I flaked the fish into a bowl of sticky rice with fried kimchi, sesame seeds, and a little sweet soy sauce and mixed everything together. Then I scooped the mixed rice into sheets of salted nori to make mini hand-rolls.
Very good overall, if you’re a fan of canned tuna you might enjoy this tin!

Damn, it actually looks as good as what was advertised on the packaging
