….jungle fowl (wild chickens) and healthy breeds of backyard chickens definitely can fly. But just like pheasants, quails, and turkey, they’re burst flight birds — not sustained flight.
If you’ve never looked up what a meat chicken looks like IRL, I’m not sure if now is the time to start…… 😅 I’ll save you the horror and just say that they grow so fast and with such huge breast meat that they basically can’t even *walk.*

To be fair, they descend from “run first” predator avoidance birds. Gotta love selective breeding and grain feed.
