I just picked this smoker up. Original owner says it heats up higher than the set temperature. He replaced the thermostat and the problem persisted. What could be the problem? What should I check first?
I couldn't find a serial number on it. Does anyone know the model number? He said he bought it at Costco. Thanx

What is “higher than the set temperature”? They have an acceptable variance of +/- 20 degrees from the set temp.
How much hotter is it getting? My temps fluctuate about 10 below or higher than the set temp. I’m very new to smokers myself, so I assumed thats normal.
