Rabah Slimani smiles to himself whenever he stops to reflect on the circumstances that have led to him becoming a Leinster player, as a 35-year-old at the back end of a long career.
Last summer’s move was not part of a masterplan. The call from Leo Cullen came out of the blue at a time when it looked as though Slimani might hang up his boots and dip his toe into coaching with his then club Clermont.
