Portland is familiar with unusual doughnut creations. We argue about which doughnut is the best in town. Heck, The Oregonian/OregonLive even used doughnuts to help explain the city’s new voting system.
So when we came across this special sweet treat from Voodoo Doughnut for 4/20 weekend, we didn’t even bat an eye.
The shop will offer a Chicken ‘N Waffles doughnut that it describes as “slightly unhinged.” That would probably be due to the “chicken-flavored frosting” that goes along with waffle bits and a maple drizzle.
For those who might not be into stoner culture, April 20 is somewhat of a national holiday for cannabis users. According to TIME Magazine, the phrase dates back to the early 1970s.
Reactions on Voodoo’s Instagram were a bit mixed. One user asked, “Who comes up with this stuff?” While another said, “I have been waiting all my life for this.”
If that is a little out of your wheelhouse, but you still want to do something about your munchies, Voodoo is also selling its Maple Blazer Blunts doughnuts, a cinnamon sugar delight, for $1.
