I’m thinking of keeping the kamado uncovered even when it rains. I’m curious if anyone else has left it exposed outdoors for a longer period of time

You do you but I don’t see how any good can come of that. I cover mine.

I cover and uncover, mostly due to laziness tbh. I always try to remember to cover when it rains though. I don’t see any upside to not covering but I’ve read some post around here about mold growing when it’s covered. I haven’t experienced that though.

Mine has been out in the weather all year round (Cleveland Ohio) I do and always have kept it covered and have had zero issues. Except for the jet black cover being sun bleached a light grey on the one side that is.

  4. Mine has been uncovered for 8 years now and doesn’t seem any worse for wear

  5. Mine came with the cover, so I see no harm in covering it the day after using it.

I live in Ireland where it rains a lot in the winter, so it’s covered up for most of the winter, but it’s fine uncovered in the spring and summer when I use it more. The mould is an issue when it’s covered and it always needs a clean burn before first cook of the new season.
