Any tips or tricks would be very appreciated! got a deflector plate towards the back, should I bank the coals further? currently sitting a little hot in the dome at 450f

Bank the coals and ditch the deflector. Direct heat and keep the dome closed

Agree 1/2 (or less) fuel, banked and direct heat – no deflector. I start with very little coal and add handfuls as needed to keep the temp up.

I’ve never used a deflector for the rotisserie. Bank the coals and keep it 350ish. Looks good, though!
