I’m pretty happy with how it turned out functionally!
Cosmetically, working with high temp paint and heat cycling/curing makes for a lengthy process and easy to make mistakes. Especially in the backyard.
The addition of ceramic briquettes, a lid gasket, and lid clamps, as well as adding gaskets for the handle/analog thermometer, makes for a very sealed unit.
I was a little surprised my max temp of 480⁰f wasn’t a tad higher, but then I figured out the controller probe is off by about 50-60 degrees. Got a new one on its way. The lid thermometer and meat temp probe read in the 530⁰+ range when I decided to start cycling things down…
