No experience with Traeger but always wanted one. I don’t know anything about this model or if it’s worth the elbow grease. Any suggestions?

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

That’s a steal. Probably needs cleaned and maybe some new high temp paint to look good but shouldn’t be a big deal to fix.

I would take it but on principle I absolutely wouldn’t pay for it. That guy is basically looking for trash pickup which would actually cost him money through any other means. If anything, he should be paying you $20 to remove it lol.

  4. Looks like its still in good condition if it “went up in flames,” could haggle on the price though, I’ve seen people sell better condition one for around that price.

Mine has caught on fire at least twice. It’ll be fine.

“Used the smoker a bunch, but unfortunately I never clean it and it caught fire”

    FB seller probably.

If it doesn’t work turn it into a regular stick burner

I would offer $50 odd are you can clean it up and getting it working with minimal effort and some paint.

Looks to be a 780 pro, absolute beast in my opinion. Definitely worth it

Probably did a high heat cook and then didn’t shut it down properly.

Probably just a good cleaning but double check to make sure the electronics work before you do otherwise you’re going to be replacing a controller.

Didn’t someone post video of this grill on fire

This is the exact model I have and I love it. Definitely worth the time and money to get it up and going again. Make sure the electronics are all still working and can still connect to wifi. I would get a really good clean done on it and maybe replace the drip plate. I can’t really tell the kind of damage it may have on it. Get some high temp paint on there and that thing will be good as new!

  13. Buy that sumbitch. I got one just like it. Had it on fire a few times, Keep them clean and there won’t be any issues

Not really usable as is… if you feel comfortable cleaning and painting it might be worth snagging but that guy should let you pick it up for free. Charging $100 for something that he can’t really use is a rip off lol

Easy purchase. That thing has like 10 more flame ups easy.

  16. Everyone saying “offer free” just give the guy $100 and move on. The shelf alone is almost $100. 2 hours of cleaning and this thing is probably fully functional.

This is a $1,000 smoker lol $100 and a couple of hours of work is still a screaming deal.

  17. I tried making bacon in an unsafe manner and lit mine on fire for quite some time.

I cleaned it up, and it worked perfectly fine.

I say go for it. These things are pretty tough.

100% would not pay for it. Probe is likely toast, potentially looking at a controller replacement. Not to mention a fire extinguisher was used on it meaning you will absolutely have to make sure that thing is clean as a whistle.

  19. PlentyExperience7879

Absolutely fixable. Probably won’t take much.

Buy buy buy! Even if the auger and heating element, thermometer is broken all the spare parts are cheap so you can repair it if need be and still be cheaper than buying a new one

  21. Choice-Fun-6900

Fires happening on these are due to lack of maintenance, keeping on eye on during a cook, and lack of cleaning.

  22. Definitely get it! A good cleaning, paint, and some elbow grease, that’s a steal.

I bought a burned one like this, and after a new board and temp probe, it has worked perfectly for five years now. Only paid $50 for the burned unit and replacing the parts was quite easy.

  24. They all catch on fire! You really should keep an eye on them because “set it and forget it” is a troubling experience! But Traeger is the best one out there in my opinion.

  25. It anyways kills me people spend money on a Traeger than don’t take the time to clean it properly. Mine looks like it had been barely used after my 4-6 cook when I clean it.

I will spend a good 2 hours with a shop vac cleaning up the fire pot and cleaning grease so this does not happen
