New French patisserie right outside of Navy Pier below Lake Point Tower. Amazing patisserie and they're priced very reasonably (no worse than any other French dessert place in the city, we were expecting a Navy Pier tourist markup). Awesome place! They do sell out sometimes, in which case they close early. The first time we tried to go they were closed. Hope they keep it up. Right side is guava and passion fruit, left is hazelnut and something else I don't remember. Too many places like this focus on style over substance but they were both delicious. Also got a strawberry rose lemonade that was tasty.

I guess it’s reasonable because it’s not on Navy Pier, and a little hard to find. Actually the name is Le (not La) French Patisserie, and I’m not proud to say that name is a train wreck of a mashup that guarantees I’ll never go. I know that in the end it’s about the food, not the brand, but I’d expect a French pastry shop to at least show a tiny bit of respect for the French language in their name. I guess it’s an effective name because you know what they do, and I’m sure their pastries show more respect for French tradition than the name. Anyway there are enough good bakeries nearby that I can skip this one.

  2. I hope people can add positive reviews on Yelp; currently it’s heavy on people who don’t understand the food and thus complain unduly. I love this place and want it to stay!!
