I made a post earlier today about getting my first smoker grill because of prime day deals, however I wanted to go to my local Home Depot to price match but I saw this as I was looking for grills. I was originally going for an ironwood 885 for 1299, but this one is way cheaper. What are your guys thoughts on the overall price of this D2 780 and which model is better for a beginner at smoking grills between the 780 and ironwood 885?

Thanks.

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

  2. It’ll smoke just fine, and you’ll have 700$ for meat.

I work at h depot. I spotted some traegers for $400 in the middle of winter. That was an awesome deal. $600 is a good deal too.

  4. Check for rust, was probably outside for a while but still a great deal!

I’d buy it. I bought my Pro 780 when it was first released — the first product generation to have WiFi, I believe — and I believe I paid $1200 at the time. They’re about to release the next gen in their product line, so this would be a great clearance buy.

Loved my 780, but was disappointed after I bought it cause I didn’t realize it didn’t come with the super smoke setting. I got too excited too fast and didn’t do my research. Makes great food, but always lacked that SMOKE smoke flavor. Ultimately I upgraded to the timberline xl 5-6 years later. IMO Depending on your needs, might be worth spending a couple hundred more to get “what you want”. Otherwise, have fun amigo and enjoy!

I think $600 is a good deal, but I just got the same thing for $500 a couple days ago. A couple local HDs had $600, I found the cheapest location via Brickseek.

I have the pro 780, paid $1,000 for it. It has been worth every single penny. $399 off? Snap that sucker up!

  9. Unfollowing this trash ass subreddit. Thought you guys would be providing cooking advice, insider tips, technical help.
But no it’s crap ass crap through and through by about 80% just like this.

Got a traeger pro with bronze lid from home Depot
Had it delivered and the dumb ass kids assembled it wrong. Auger would not work. 499.00 reg 799.00 Fuck Treager grills

If it is a better deal than offered on Traeger webpage, than it’s a good deal.

That’s the one i have and it’s incredible. Absolutely recommend at that price

I’d buy it. The new models of Traeger are very poorly manufactured, difficult to assemble, and over priced. These will be the last of a dying breed.

This will sound controversial, but I do want to be a bit blunt and tell you this.

Traeger has cheapened out and the new models will break more likely, the seals also aren’t as good, so expect some problems.

If you are handy enough I say try to find an older one, I’ve seen 2 this month on FB marketplace for free. If you can reseal it and learn to replace parts the old American made ones can last you a long time. My dad’s he got in 08. That sucker has caught fire twice and had parts replaced twice but the shell is in super great condition despite being ran several times a week. Would be a more efficient cost option.

They came out with the wood ridge line that has a lot of super convenient features. Maybe hold out, one time big purchase better then a good deal that you might “regurt” later
