I wanted to make actual flower petals but I just couldn’t do it and had no time before I had to finish the cake so I made do with that. Does anyone know channels/websites where I can learn piping techniques?

Also it’s a chocolate cake layered with light caramel sauce and caramel cremeux and frosted with smbc

Hey there, I started with this tutorial and searched for others and just kept going. What helped was one tutorial who suggested a stiffer icing that was made of part butter and part shortening, heavy on the powdered sugar. I had to learn with American buttercream despite almost exclusively using IMBC for my cakes and desserts. The key to learning was practicing with the stiff buttercream until I learned the form.

Oh! The cake is lovely, the middle piped edge was a terrific addition as well as the lavender highlights. Would love to see more of your work as you continue to develop your skills.

You can use the same piping tip used for the purple to do simple rosettes- when I’m short on time and have creative freedom, rosettes are a quick, easy to pipe go to.

I think your cake looks great and you seem to already have talent to build skills on. 💚

I think you’ve made a very pretty cake. You’ll have lots of opportunities to make flowers, but this cake is beautiful as is.
