I’m aware that not all flowers are edible. The couple made the flower purchase and I informed them that there was a possibility of some of them being toxic or that they would not taste good!

And you put them on the cake anyway? You’d still be liable if something happened.
If you make a cake. And the client adds it themselves, they take on the risk.

1. I hope you had an addendum to your contract that you’re not liable for this if anything happens.
2. I’d have instructed the venue to peel off the flowers before cutting.
3. Don’t ever allow this again. It is not worth it. Now you have photos of a cake you made with flowers that are unsafe for food contact. Other couples will see this and want “that exact flower mix” and then what?
