This is the only way I’ve ever made it: in the crock pot with quartered canned biscuits so I’m just curious how others make it

I mix flour, baking powder, butter, rendered chicken fat (from making the stock), salt, white pepper, green herbs (like chervil) and buttermilk into a very thick biscuit dough. I book-fold the dough a couple of times on a floured surface and then roll it out to maybe 1/2” thick. Cut them into bite-sized rectangles and drop them into the hot liquid. They’re half-way between sinkers and floaters and have awesome layers.

Bisquick and milk until it’s the right consistency. Then roll thin with more Bisquick and drop in broth. Cook till it’s done.

1) Combine 1 and 3/4 cups plain flour with 1 tsp baking powder and salt and pepper to taste.
2) In a small bowl or jug, mix 1 cup of milk, 1 tbsp canola oil, 1 tbsp basil pesto (mixture may separate slightly even after stirring, this is fine).
3) Pour wet mixture into dry mixture and mix well with a fork. The mixture should be sticky but not runny and firm enough to scoop with a dinner spoon but not dry (you can add a touch more flour if it’s runny).
4) Use two dinner spoons to scoop and plop dumplings directly onto boiling pot of soup. Cover with lid and simmer until done. Enjoy!

Get a can of biscuits and cut it into fours, drop it into the broth. I know it’s an abomination or whatever, but it’s easy and works well for us.

🤨 Red potatoes 00 flour fine salt durum wheat semolina, or what we call “Roman style” made with semolina, milk, egg yolks, parmesan, salt and nutmeg to then, as far as I know, put these in the oven😐

Flour, baking powder, melted butter, milk, spices. Drop in stew in little balls, put lid on and steam/low simmer for 15 mins.

Flour, egg, water, salt. Roll out, cut into noodles. I’m a flat dumpling kinda girl.
I just made chicken & dumplings for dinner last night! They turn out perfect every time. Don’t over mix ‘cause they’ll get too dense. I use an ice cream scooper to add them to the soup and then ladle a little liquid over the tops. Over and let simmer on low heat with the lid on for 15 minutes. They get big as hell if you for let them go too long lmao

I literally make biscuit dough and just throw them into the soup instead of baking them.

This is the recipe I’ve used to make dumplings per my great-grandmothers chicken and dumpling soup.
Start with 2 cups all purpose flour, 3 eggs, 3 tablespoons sour cream & 1 tablespoon salt.
Mix the eggs, sour cream and salt till smooth. Add the two cups of flour and combine. You should be able to roll the mixture into a log which I cut into slices and drop into boiling salted water (you may need to add more flour if too wet and water if it ends up too dry). Drop each slice into the boiling water, let sit for 30 seconds then mix so they aren’t stuck to the bottom, wait for them to float to the top and cook for 5 minutes, I cut one of the largest ones in half to see if done- if done I take them out of water, if not I cook another 3 minutes and check again.

I do it a non traditional way. My family is from the rural south. Muh dear (grandma) made pie crust dumplings. Butter, flour, salt and ice cold water. Roll it out, cut them up, and in the pot they went. Pot was a whole chicken in stock and heavy cream. Then she would bake it. Sometimes a pie crust would go on top.
It was perfect. Just perfect. My father could make it just as good, but I didn’t inherit the touch. My sister did 🙂.

Just flour and eggs. I am shocked to see how many people are saying to add things like milk, baking powder, etc.
