

Hello! I am hopeful someone can help explain what happened with my Traeger while I was cooking my turkey last week. Everything was running fine but I noticed on my Meater app that the ambient temp was falling. I go to the Traeger and sure enough it was at 180 and falling (temp was set to 350°, at this point). I go back inside and then Boom. My bro-in-law said it burped a Boom and smoke was pouring everywhere. I go out and the temp is still declining but now smoke is coming out everywhere, including the hopper….then flames all over for 15 minutes after despite turning it off.
I cleaned it a couple of weeks previous and only used it once after for a short cook. I’m assuming it was a back burn. However, the pics I posted seem to show paper stuck all over the place…or something like paper. What has happened here? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!
BTW: moved Turkey to oven in the house and it still turned out beautifully.
