How do you like to eat your meatball sub? That’s the question we’re going to be asking today. I’m going to make some meatballs. Sparrow’s going to make some uh some marine breads. Later, we’re going to dress some meatball subs. Sparrow will do his. We’ll do one for you. I got a kilo of ground beef here. Three cloves of garlic. We’re going to roughly chop an onion just to make it fit. Let’s say a/3 of a cup of milk. Okay. I’m going to go a handful of parsley. We got about half a cup of breadrumbs. Go with your heart. That’s about I’d say a half a cup of cheese, granapadana, and pecarina romano. Two eggs. We’re going to zap this up. That’s good to go. Everything goes in the pot. So, we have our onions, our garlic, our milk. Season generously with salt and pepper. You don’t need to overthink a meatball. Go with the flavor profiles you like. Give my hands a quick wash and we’ll get this mixed up. So, I’m going to use my uh trusted falafel scoop. Spiel’s going to make them nice and round. Using my falafel scoop as a portioner. All right, we’ll get these in the oven. We’ll start them off at 15 minutes. We’ll check them. I got about 400. I’m going to put on the high fan. Put me a timer. 15 minutes has passed where we’re going to be pulling out our meatballs. Cool them off in our rack over here. Our homemade subreads here. We let them cool off. Here we go. We’re going to start with this. Just opening it up. A little bit of mozzarella. I don’t know how many we’re going to fit in here. I think six is our magic number on this one. Four subreads here lined up with six meatballs each. Sprinkle on the top of them. So when they’re cooking in the oven, the mozzarella is going to melt all over it. Put them in the pizza oven for about uh 3 4 minutes. Sweet. One. Maybe four. Two. Who’s the fourth one for? This is a squeezy. So, how would you like your sub dress? Tomato sauce is a standard. Everything but green peppers, please. Cheese. Yes. Parmesan. I pretty much copied my sub. Yes. For all of you guys wondering if mayo goes in a meatball sub, it does. This is the Vivaldi Voices sub. Spezy, what do you want? Going to keep it simple here. So, Parmesan cheese, tomato sauce, calabian chilis, and call it a day. Speed is having a classic, but we’re going to kill them with the calabian chili cuz I’m in that kind of mood. This is memories of uh going my best friends to Subway when we were a kid. And we try to make the most heinous combinations possible. When it comes to this kind of sandwich, I’m down with the mayo and the meatball sub as well. Whatever happens in the sub stays in the sub. Stays in the sub. Definitely a lot of onion for me. Big pickle guy. And these green peppers, believe it or not, they were from my brother who didn’t show up. So, in honor of my brother, just cuz I cut him, I’ll put a little bit of green pepper. I’m going all dressed, basically. So, there’s my meatball sub. How would you dress your meatball sub? What would you put on it? How would you enjoy it? Anything here gross you out? We want to hear the meatball sub debate. Meatball subs for fun. The

  1. You're a Great Chef but Mayo on a Meatball Parm Hero is Blasphemy. lol Never heard about it before and hopefully never do again.

  3. For a time I hated olives in my subs. But right about my mid thirties I grew to be fond of them. Guess taste changes with age.

  4. Dressing a sub like that reminds me of the fat sandwiches you could get late night from the grease trucks around Rutgers.

  5. I like dipping the meatballs in the sauce before adding to the bread. Spiro always has the best take.

  6. Pork beef and veal for 1 then I'd pan fry them obviously, finish up with sauce and mozzarella with a little ricotta and pecorino 🤌

  7. Thank You!!!!!

Thank you for confirming that MAYO does indeed BELONG on a meatball sandwich!

I have taken a beating from family and friends over putting mayo on my meatballs over my lifetime…..

    Vindication/validation is mine! Thank you!!!!!

  8. I want nothing added on my meatball sub. Meat and cheese, done. Mayo on a meatball sub is heinous. Blech

  9. 4 roasted garlic cloves mashed and spread on one side of the sesame seeded semolina bread, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil; same side, sprinkle two tablespoons of grated Pecorino Romano cheese. Crack open some freshly fried meatballs that have been marinating in marinara sauce for a half hour. These meatballs are the size of tennis balls and are soo tender that they crack open with a touch of a fork. Put the meatball halves on a plate with the middle faced down.
Now they resemble little mounds side by side that can be picked up with a large spatula and placed onto the garlic oil and grated cheese side of the bread. Ladle some marinara sauce over the balls and cover with slices of fresh homemade mozzarella; place in the oven and remove when the mozz is melted thoroughly.
Lay them on the garlic, oil and cheese side with the middle facing down on the bread. Then sprinkle with fresh Basil leaves that are cut into tiny pieces. A little more marinara on top of that, close the bread, cut in half, MANGIA!
    Bon Appetit.

  10. A meatball grinder made my way!!! Meatballs & sausage (casing removed), provolone & fresh mozzarella cheeses, mushrooms, cooked onions, thick sauce, grated parmigiana cheese & pepperoni!!! THAT’S IT!!!

  11. Traditionally, I just go with mozzarella and provolone, the place I get them already has the meatballs in the sauce, so that's a given. And that's it but the mayo they have there is really good, so I'll give it a shot next time.

  12. The lettuce on the meatball sub weirds me out 😅 either the lettuce is warm or the sandwich is cold, I'm not sure which sounds worse.
No hate to you guys though, keep up the fun, informative videos!
