Orange cake with buttercream frosting.
I thought decorating a cake might be fun so I tried my hand at it. Baking the actual cake was pretty easy although it did come out a little dry. I also made the buttercream myself without a mixer which was kind of dreadful but it did work out lol.
Once I got to decorating I was having fun until I tried to make a flower which is the wet looking mass you see on top (which i ended up cracking up on because wtf is that 🤣) and my ribbons look crazy. but either way, I had fun, and I'm open to constructive criticism because I want to be able to make better cakes. Thanks!

Did u literally use just butter?
the piping looks really good, i love the border on top !!! but the buttercream does look a little off. either you underwhipped the butter, or it got a little too warm after whipping. either way its beautiful & i’m sure it was delish !!
at first glance i thought it was decorated with freshly cooked noodles
Needs more color. It looks like it’s just covered in butter.
Any one else think it was a Mac and cheese themed cake at first?
It looks really great for your first time!! Don’t give up practicing! Quick tip if youd like your frosting a little whiter, just add a tiny bit of purple food coloring 🙂
This is great for a first cake from scratch! Well done!
If you want to make more cakes in the future I do highly suggest a hand mixer at least.
My top tips – never overmix your batter once you add flour
-Substitute a few tablespoons of flour with cornstarch for a lighter texture
-Add a *tiny* amount of purple gel food coloring to buttercream to cancel out the yellow and make it look white!
nice, keep it up
