Cut the bottom out of a 5 gallon bucket and notched the bottom rim to sit snug onto the hopper. Used the protective grill screw mounts to secure it.
Also added a proper smoke stack so when I cover it with a welding blanket I still have a smoke outlet (tailgater only has cutouts in the back).

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

what’s the melting point of that bucket, and how much heat is going to radiate from the smoker?
You will not empty out your pellet hopper in 12 hours, fill it before you go to bed and fill it in the morning, if you don’t trust it set an alarm for the middle of the night. The bucket mod may cause some unintended effects, not worth it in my opinion.
This is so unnecessary
That is a bit over kill bro. I do plenty of overnight cooks with my 575 and I have never run out of pellets. I just start sometime after 9 PM and then check / add more pellets before 8 AM.
I’ve heard of people using chimney pipe.
The plastic bucket is a no-go for me.
This is not necessary, and it is unacceptable.
Good luck! Hope it don’t jam from all the weight of the extra pallets, guess u can let us know how it goes!
Unless you’re cooking at high temp you don’t need the extra capacity, but it should hurt. You are putting more weight on the auger though. Probably not a big deal though.
Hope your plastic doesn’t melt
That’s really dangerous mate.
The holes in the back are part of the down draft system. You could really screw up how your traeger functions. Hope for the best for you but I’d be nervous testing it overnight without testing it first.
Same with the hopper, this seems like a solid way to get pellet dust and a clogged/backfired hopper.
