These traditional Polish pastries are available only in the weeks before Lent. They have a taste and texture more like brioche that US raised jelly donuts. Blueberry (shown) is my favorite filling and prune is my least. Approximately pronounced “punch-key” in my distorted Polish

Looks fantastic!
Ugh, if you ever in Poland please try freshly made donuts. They are incredible!
It sucks you can only get them for a few weeks, we have it all year long obviously. Though I’ve never seen any with blueberry, hmm…
Oooh, I live in the US and I used to go in early in the morning at a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop and wait until they came out warm. I would usually get strawberry filling in mine, sometimes blueberry and they were so delicious. I haven’t had them in quite a while with all the snow on the ground and new snow falling makes me want some warm donuts and a big cup of coffee. That is such a shame that you can only get them just a short limited amount of time. And yes, you’re right we call them jelly donuts where I come from.
Not quite like my grandma’s but they’ll do in a pinch.
We call those “krofi” in Slovenia, and they are filled with apricot jam 👍
