A lot of my containers have lids but if I need a bag I use those produce bags that you can get from the grocery store.
FourFront
I stopped using them, I don’t like how they retain heat. I was getting a lot of over proofed dough. I just use a cloth.

I make this recipe often and it says to cover with a towel. I have been finding dry spots on the dough after rising. Should I be using something less breathable?
My wife sewed some elastic to some fabric and it’s a perfect bowl cover. Just throw it in the wash between loaves

I have special floral print covers because they’re CUTE DAMMIT
XtremePhotoDesign
I use color coded (by size) ones that were labeled BPA free.

I recently got into using clear proofing bags! So far so good, although they’re so big that it’s hard to tent them over trays without touching dough sometimes

Also really good for putting over your smoke detector if you’re good at setting them off every single time I cooked in my apartment.
Note: remove the shower cap when you’re done cooking for safety 😂

I learned that trick from John Kirkwood. If you haven’t tuned into his Youtube Channel I highly recommend it!

A few years back, I bought 2 packs, 3 each of bowl covers at Walmart. They are fabric on the outside but with a plastic backside. You can wash and reuse them until they literally fall apart. And at 2 years, mine don’t look like they are even close to that point…

Hi. You are just covering your dough to prevent overt air flow /drying / airborne contamination. I use a large dinner plate that fits over the rim of my bowl or a saucepan lid that fits the rim of my bowl. These are easy to clean and multiple use without the use of nasty plastics.
Happy baking

There are two oily shower caps in a cup in the corner of my freezer, also in that cup is an oily rag that I wipe down my cast iron and carbon steel pans.

I found discounted glass containers with bamboo lids bc they were scratched up

One question – are they food safe?
crem_flandango
Yup. Got a pack of 100 of them 2 years ago and it might last me a lifetime

Isn’t anyone concerned about their dough making contact with non food safe materials? I put a crumpled piece of parchment over my banneton before putting a plastic bag on it and into the fridge. Dough rises, touches parchment, not plastic.
