You have two layers of frosting. After the cake cools you put on the dirty layer. You put the cake in the freezer. After a few hours the frosting gets hard and you add the second layer of frosting. Also before putting on the first layer of frosting you cut the top off the cake flat. If it has two layers you flip the top layer upside down. The pastry chef taught me this. It actually works. If you want the little flowers you need a piping bag and accessories. They are really affordable on line, but expensive in the store.

i genuinely mean it when i say i’d eat the one you made versus the inspiration pic. the frosting looks like it would be a weird texture in the first one and i worry the cake is dry. whereas yours the frosting looks soft and tasty and is a great color. also i bet your cake is moist

The cute candle on the sweet little cake I could cry!!! My mom took photos of all my birthday cakes (many of my early ones made by a great “aunt” who was semi-professional, and then many later ones made by her and my dad). You can just tell how much love was put into them and this gives me that same feeling
