French Silk Pie: Member’s Mark is Sam’s Club’s brand of products. For those of you not familiar with Sam’s Club it’s basically a Costco. Doing a little research, I was able to learn that French Silk Pie originated in 1951 when Betty Cooper, an American, submitted her French Silk Chocolate Pie in a baking contest and won. I can't find why French is in the title, but the "silk" comes from the silky creamy finish attributed to the chocolate mousse. Prior to Betty sharing her recipe, chocolate cream pies were typically made with a pudding filling. My Member's Mark Pie had a velvety smooth, rich, chocolate mousse inside the flaky pie crust, and was then topped with sweet, whipped cream, and crisp chocolate curls. If you like chocolate, whipped cream, and sugar as much as I do then this pie is for you. Doughboy approved 😋
