It's underdeveloped but is there any idea or do I need to wait on a fully developed one

Definitely looks like some kind of underdeveloped pepper. Id say keep growing until you get some good ones. I don’t recognize that to be any pepper just yet. I wouldn’t say that a Carolina reaper is totally off the table . But it’s not going to get any bigger or better based on the color. So you could totally take that one off and taste it if you are brave enough to see how hot it is

It’s definitely hot based on the tail but it could be several different peppers at this stage

curious- did you mislabel the plant or did someone send you the wrong seeds?

You’ve got an “early”, which is normal and is a great sign! IMO You’ve likely got actual reaper there pal! I grew three trees of them a couple years ago!

My reaper plant first produced a pod like this and then it gave me normal sized one. I think it’s first pod specific.

It is not a reaper. Did you grow this from seed?

Could be a reaper – mine were all small like that my first year in a small pot – moved it the next year into a 10gal potato growing cloth pot and the plant doubled in size and pods came out more correct shaped.

A lot of my plants have been throwing under developed peppers. My Reapers, WHP 006S, and my Bhuts have been really small. I rolled up my shade cloth and I’m going to use some liquid fertilizer on them to see what happens.
