Valentine's day.. really holds no meaning for me other than an excuse to bake cute things 😄

These will be going into boxes for family and friends.

I made chocolate chunk, double chocolate, shortbread, sugar cookies, peanut butter hearts, meringues, butter cookies, and chocolate "hedgehog" cookies.. which unfortunately turned out looking more like bears 🤣. Hedgebears? Bearhogs? Bears in a nest?

I don't even know.

Anyway. They tasted great which is the most important part! Looking at them now I can see where I went wrong and what I would do differently next time.

I will try to get the recipes posted shortly in case anyone is interested!

If a guy doesn’t appreciate a Hedgebear, he doesn’t deserve the chocolate chunk.

This recipe uses only yolks. I chose it so that I could use up the yolks I separated from the whites for the meringues.

I made a couple changes to this one. Omitted the milk, doubled the vanilla, and added some finely crushed biscoff crumbs.

For some reason the hedgehog recipe is now showing an error message? It was by browniemischief. Basically you make a chocolate cookie, make an indent in the center, brush the cookie (except for the indent) with egg white and dip in chocolate sprinkles. Bake. The recipe said to fill with white chocolate, but I did ganache instead as I didnt think I’d like the texture of just straight white chocolate.

These are absolutely adorable! I’ve been obsessed with the sugar cookies with all the inlays and have been wanting to try it out. How difficult is the process?
