The vacuum sealer was acting up, so I wasted an hour repacking the ziploc bags, and I need to go to bed now. Can I just put the meat in ice water and put it straight in the fridge?

Thank you for your picture post to r/sousvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.
If you’ve posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn’t really fostering any discussion which is what we’re all aiming for.

You can put the bad straight in the fridge. Older refrigerators couldn’t keep up if you put something hot in them and it heated the whole refrigerator. Modern refrigerators aren’t nearly as affected by this, particularly with it being something so small. I do it all the time and it has never once mattered at all.
