These are from Costco. The top one is airtight vacuum sealed as it should be. The bottom one has a lot of air in the bag. Idk if it's safe to eat anymore?

Thank you for your picture post to r/sousvide. We want to remind everyone of Rule #5. Posts should be accompanied by something to foster discussion. A comment, a question, etc is encouraged.

If you’ve posted a picture of something you’ve prepared, please explain why in a comment so people can have some sort of conversation. Simply dropping a picture of food in the sub isn’t really fostering any discussion which is what we’re all aiming for.

Posts that are a picture with no discussion can and will be removed by the mods.

    Thank you!!

How do they smell? Those are pre-cooked, and when you opened up the box, one was unsealed? I wonder how long?

The one time I sous videos lamb shanks and they didn’t come out right was 100000% obvious when I smelled them out of the bag.

  4. Some lamb shanks for some reason get bacteria in them…no idea why that is so common….but as long as theyre not ballooning it should be fine. Next time you make lamb shanks I suggest doing a blanche

  5. If those are cooked before you buy them, I would say that’s not safe to eat. The bag has a hole in it and you don’t know for how long or what’s gotten in there.
