Recently got a grill so this was one of the first stakes I ever grilled. Was shooting for a medium rare.

I see your misteak. Next time make a steak.

Internal temp looks great but I’ve seen better crust on rusty door hinges.

It looks great, but yeah, grill marks are just pointless.

The color of the grill marks look good, I’m sure on the cast-iron you would’ve nailed it. Good job either way.

Did you use a Foreman Grill? This looks like you microwaved it.
BrilliantRevenue6912
Did you cook it over a warm fart???

I would gladly eat that and not complain one bit.

You want a crust, not just grill marks
grill marks are fine if they’re on a crust, but otherwise you only have lines of crust on grey meat

Looks like a sweater.

This steak makes me understand why someone might be adverse to rare/medrare steak. It makes sense now.
bearded-boi
It just has zero sear or crust. Looks cooked through perfectly fine though. 6.5/10

Could you explain your process here? Did you sous vide then sear?
Mysticfruits
Everyone is dissing it, I’d smash no questions asked. Don’t let the purist bring you down brother.
Particular-Trifle-22
Can be make inverse grill markets by using a sous vide then blow torching the steak on a grill haha

Remember as a kid when you would ask your Mom to cut the crust off of your PB&J? This is the steak version of that.
ItzPayDay123
Temp looks great, pan/grill temp needs to be way higher
Maleficent-Thanks-85
Get a carbon steel pan for the best seer. Develops the best crust. I prefer steel over cast iron because I’ve found my cast iron to not heat as evenly as my steel pan.
highendfive
How did you boil it with a sear
Ni66aNotNamedLarry
Looks like an Applebee’s steak from the early 2000’s.

That looks like a plastic steak that would come with the little tikes play kitchen for kids

Honestly- that looks great- fuck everyone with this whole crust stuff- even if you had a great crust someone would talk shit. You posted something online with a bunch of know it alls that can’t do better but will talk shit. You made steak, the temp looks awesome, if you ate it and enjoyed it then mission accomplished.
Werewolf-Jones
crosshatches are old school for a reason. You’re leaving flavor out of it by not getting a crust on the whole thing. Very good cook for what you were going for. That’s a classic steakhouse type cook done perfectly. It’s just not what most people want these days.
