It’s been growing in our veg Baskin and I’ve told my bf we should plant it, but the bulb feels kinda mushy.

This is basically how you root them to grow, usually, we save the bottoms with the root cluster and sprout them, you could def plant this. It looks like you could do a several from this bundle, I’d google rooting onions for planting or something like that and find a quick tutorial. It’s so satisfying to grow things you can eat, and exponentially when it’s onions. The flavor of homegrown garden fresh is so much more intense! 😀

Mushy bulb is exactly what you want for a healthy, growing plant. The greens are taking their nutrients from that mush, breaking it down, and converting it into something usable. You can either choose to eat the greens and toss the bulb (treat them like green onions) or you can plant it with the greens….I think an inch of dirt above the bulb should be good for this kne? I’ve got a similar one waiting to hit the pot in a week!
