When Ramadan days feel long, a small bite that’s naturally sweet and satisfying can help. These sesame-coated date and nut balls come together fast, store well in the fridge, and make an easy treat for iftar (or a quick suhoor bite). They’re also a simple homemade gift for neighbors, friends, kids, and elders.
Ingredients
1 kg dates paste
100 g mixed nuts (roasted pistachios, almonds, walnuts)
Sesame seeds (til), for coating
A few drops of olive oil, for greasing hands
Method (Step-by-step)
Warm the dates paste slightly until it’s lukewarm and softer (not hot).
Crush the roasted nuts to a medium texture—chunky, not powdered.
Mix nuts into the warm paste until evenly combined.
Grease your fingertips/palms with a little olive oil and roll into bite-size balls.
Coat in sesame seeds by rolling each ball on a plate of sesame until fully covered.
Storage
Place the balls in an airtight jar/container, close the lid, and refrigerate. They stay firm, neat, and ready to serve whenever you need a quick energy lift.
Why this works in Ramadan
Dates provide quick fuel, nuts add staying power, and sesame gives a clean, non-sticky finish. A few bites can help with fatigue and low energy—especially around iftar.
Ramadan Mubarak—simple, nourishing, and giftable.
