Midwinter thaw. Despite lingering snowcrete the longest arctic spell in decades is over, and I only lost 4 plants. The garage did not really fall below freezing. The dead leaves are not an issue as you can see the stems are bright green. They will stay out a few more days before going back into the garage as temperatures drop

This is the first water they have had in months
Do you always overwinter with the leaves on and the stems that big?
They look like my garage plants. Someone opened the door when it was 20F and torched the leaves. I could really use some warm weather to get them outside.
We are looking the same over here! In zone 5b. Excited for my year 2 cross plants!
Wow! Those plants sure like being….. chili. 🥶
Awesome work though. Mine are crying at the lightest, gentlest, cold draft. I don’t blame mine though, because me too. 😭
Yeah, won’t ever move to a place where that lasts longer than two days at most if at all. My idea of a cold place is where is gets all the way down to 65 at night in Mid-Winter.
This past fall, I stripped the leaves and pruned them down to about 18-24 inches. I’ve had WAY fewer pests this winter! I’ll **always** strip leaves on my peppers to overwinter in the future.
