I had some trouble at a steak house and without imparting bias I want to see what cut you all believe this to be.

NY Striploin most likely. If you’re in Europe it’s also known as a Sirloin

Looks like the end of the ribeye bordering on strip. The spinalis looks to be at the top.

That’s definitely an updog cut if I’ve ever seen one

Everybody saying strip but it looks like a ribeye to me

Looks like a strip. Problem is, you could get this from either loin side of the ribeye loin, or the first cut off the strip loin.

So the restaurant isn’t lying when they said they got you a ribeye, it was probably just the one cut off the loin side of the ribeye.

The ribeyes on the chuck side look completely different with a large ribeye cap, where as the ones of the opposite side basically look like a NY strip.

UPDATE: So, I went to a Morton’s Steakhouse and ordered the dry aged rib eye and this is what they brought. The gut reaction of many here is that this is a NY strip, which was my reaction too. But others felt like this is also likely the last section of ribeye before getting to the NY strip section. So while it is perhaps technically a ribeye, it’s 90% a strip which isn’t what I wanted.

Two problems for those interested: 1) it was completely unsalted lol 2) I talked to two different waiters and got two different stories, so somebody lied to me about it.

They did bring me one of the Chuck-side rib eyes after with a big fat chunk of spinalis on it and comped my drink, so I was happy.
