Crepes are one of those rare foods that work at any hour of the day—breakfast or dessert, there’s really no wrong way to enjoy them.
The versatile food can be made sweet or savory, depending on your mood, with fillings ranging from your favorite ingredients like jams, fruits, whipped cream, hazelnut spreads, or even melty cheeses, meats and vegetables.
Now, Costco is elevating the crepe game to a whole new level, delivering a vibrant and fruity twist on the timeless French classic, best described as an ultra-thin pancake originating from Brittany, France.
Costco’s Pink Guava Crepes from St. Michel
With spring just around the corner, lighter and fluffier fare is becoming a draw, and shoppers at the warehouse giant spotted an irresistible crepe flavor that’s almost too pretty to eat—pink guava!
The Instagram account, Costco So Obsessed, was the first to report the findings, writing, “Pink guava crepes 🩷🩷🩷 @stmichel_us@stmichel_fr these look great !!”
Hailing from St. Michel, the French family-owned bakery operating since 1905, also responsible for the fan-favorite sponge cake Madeleine, the pink guava crepes were a delight for many who saw them available at their local store.
The Costco Momma took to TikTok to admit that while she came for the beloved Nutella-filled crepes, she found the pink guava ones instead and wasn’t one bit disappointed.
“Costco just switched things up with these French pink guava filled crepes and I did not see that coming. They’re soft, sweet, and definitely different from the usual chocolate filling,” she wrote on the video, which gave fans a peek at the pink packaging.
The packaging describes the crepe as “unlike any other,” noting that it’s “light, tender, and filled with a delicious guava purée.”
“A unique fusion of French savoir-faire and vibrant flavors, offering a fresh, surprising twist on a timeless classic,” the description continued.
Costco shoppers were ready to give the new crepe flavor a whirl, writing, “Ok yum!” and “I love Guava i need to try 🫶🏻.”
That being said, you may have to catch a flight to enjoy these, as they are only available at select stores for $7.99.
Pink Guava Gaining Popularity as a Seasonal Flavor
While this seems to be the first time Costco has added a pink guava crepe, the tropical profile isn’t entirely new, with the retailer previously selling Guava Sweet Rolls and a Guava Cheesecake that shoppers have only found in select locations like Hawaii, Florida and Puerto Rico.
Guava is a yearround flavor in warmer climates, and while it doesn’t have the seasonal association like pumpkin or peppermint, it has been trending on menus lately as part of seasonal rollouts along other tropical flavors like mago and passion fruit.
These are often seen as spring and summer flavors as they boast a bright and light flavor profile, along with the pink and coral color that emphasizes spring aesthetics.
Shoppers at certain Costco locations may spot other St. Michel products on shelves as the season warms up, with Costco So Obsessed also noting that the French Mini Tarts in Mango and Passion Fruit have begun popping up.
